Renewal, reprint and modification — the three card services inside Pak Identity that keep your CNIC current. Whether your card expired, was lost, or carries a wrong address, this guide covers each service: when to use it, what it costs, and how to get it done from your phone.
Quick answer: Through Pak Identity you can renew an expired CNIC (Rs 750 normal Smart NIC), order a duplicate for a lost/damaged card, or modify name, address, marital status or photo. All three work fully online via the Pak-ID app or id.nadra.gov.pk — no office visit needed.
CNIC Renewal
Use renewal when your card has expired or is about to. The online flow needs your current CNIC copy, a fresh white-background photo and biometric verification. Fees for 2026: Smart NIC Rs 750/1,500/2,500; standard CNIC Rs 400/1,150/2,150 (Normal/Urgent/Executive). Renew before expiry — an expired card can freeze bank accounts and block SIMs.
Duplicate / Reprint
Lost, stolen or damaged card? The duplicate service reprints your existing record — no new biometrics needed beyond login verification. Report a stolen card to the police as well as applying for the reprint, and check via SMS to 668 that no unknown SIMs were taken on your number.
Modification
Correcting your record — name spelling, address, marital status, date of birth, photo or signature. Each change needs supporting documents: utility bills for address, marriage certificate for marital status, matric certificate or court order for date of birth (allowed once). Modification fees mirror renewal: Rs 750/1,500/2,500; photo or signature-only updates cost Rs 400.
Choosing Your Speed
Normal suits planned renewals (15–30 days). Urgent fits travel or admission deadlines (7–15 days). Executive is for genuine emergencies (under a week). All three are the same card — you are paying for queue priority, not a different product.
Start any of these from the Pak-ID app or web portal. The complete NADRA picture is in our Pak Identity pillar guide.
My card is damaged but readable. Renew or reprint?
Reprint (duplicate) — it is the same record, just a new physical card, and avoids the full renewal document cycle.
Can I change my photo online?
Yes — photo update is a modification service (Rs 400), done through the app’s camera capture.
What if my modification is rejected?
Rejections almost always mean weak supporting documents. Gather stronger proof (e.g. matric certificate for name changes) and re-apply, or visit a NADRA centre with originals.
