Getting your Pakistan ID online — without visiting a NADRA centre — is now the normal way to renew, modify or reprint a CNIC. This guide is the practical walkthrough: what you need before you start, the exact steps, what can go wrong, and how long it takes in 2026.
Quick answer: Apply for your Pakistan ID online via the Pak-ID app or id.nadra.gov.pk: register, verify biometrically, choose renewal/modification/reprint, upload your photo and documents, pay (Rs 750 normal Smart NIC renewal), and track by SMS to 8400. Delivery takes 15–30 days normal, under a week executive.
Before You Start
You need: your existing CNIC (for renewal/modification), a Pakistani mobile number, an email address, a recent photo with a white background, and a payment method (debit/credit card, JazzCash or EasyPaisa). First-time applicants cannot apply online — biometrics must be captured at a centre.
The 8 Steps
1. Register on the Pak-ID app or id.nadra.gov.pk with your CNIC, mobile and email; verify the OTP.
2. Verify biometrics — face scan or fingerprints through the app.
3. Select your service — renewal, modification, duplicate or reprint.
4. Fill in details exactly as on your current record.
5. Upload photo and documents — clear scans, JPG or PDF under 2MB.
6. Pay — cards, JazzCash, EasyPaisa or eSahulat PSID.
7. Save your tracking ID — shown in “Existing Applications”.
8. Receive your card by courier (~Rs 165) or collect as instructed.
Documents Checklist
- Renewal: copy of current CNIC + fresh photo
- Name change: matric certificate, passport, marriage certificate, affidavit as applicable
- Address change: utility bill, rent agreement or domicile
- Date of birth: matric/birth certificate or court order (one-time only)
- Marital status: marriage, divorce or death certificate
Common Problems
Photo rejected: use a white background, even lighting, no shadows — ICAO-style.
Payment failed: retry with a different method; PSID at eSahulat works without a bank card.
Application rejected: usually a document mismatch — re-apply with corrected scans or visit a centre.
Biometrics failing: try facial verification, or visit a centre for assisted capture.

Can I apply online if my CNIC expired years ago?

Is online application safe?
