LAHORE: Imam-ul-Haq converted his overnight hundred into an unbeaten double century for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited on the third day of their seventh-round President’s Trophy Grade-I match against Ghani Glass on Wednesday.
The left-hander resumed on 118 not out at Lahore’s LCCA Ground and carried his bat to 200 not out, an innings studded with 19 fours and two sixes. OGDCL declared their first innings at 410 for nine, taking a 178-run lead over Ghani Glass.
The Imam-ul-Haq double century headlines a remarkable day of batting across the President’s Trophy. Saad Khan contributed 88 and Ali Zaryab made 42 in support of Imam, while Ubaid Shah led Ghani’s bowling with five wickets for 131 runs.
Ghani Glass, dismissed for 232 in their first innings, reached 82 for three in their second innings at stumps. Hashim Ibrahim and Sharjeel Khan scored 34 each, leaving the side still 96 runs behind.
Imam-ul-Haq double century caps day of big hundreds
The day belonged to the batters. At the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Pakistan Television produced a stirring fightback against MIT Solutions after being bowled out for just 64 in their first innings.
Following on against MIT’s 412, PTV were dismissed for 394 in their second innings. Waqar Hussain scored 171 and Taimur Khan made 151, converting their overnight scores of 102 not out and 63 not out into commanding centuries. Khalid Usman took four wickets for 90 runs, while Salman Aslam and Mohammad Ismail claimed three each. MIT were left needing 47 runs for victory.
At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited reached 87 for four in pursuit of 191 against Khan Research Laboratories, still 104 runs short. Mohammad Rizwan was unbeaten on 22 at the close after KRL were dismissed for 234 in their second innings. Shehzad Gul took five wickets for 61 runs and Shahnawaz Dahani claimed three for 66.
At the National Ground in Islamabad, State Bank of Pakistan posted 398 all out in reply to Kingsmen Academy’s 371. Ali Shan remained unbeaten on 100 while Kamran Ghulam scored 88, and Umer Khan took five wickets for 111 runs. Kingsmen reached 166 for two in their second innings, with Mohammad Tayyab Arif unbeaten on 91 and Mohammad Huraira contributing 57, holding a lead of 139 runs.
What the Imam-ul-Haq double century means
The knock continues Imam’s outstanding domestic season. Feature Pakistan reported his century in this same innings when OGDCL took the lead on the previous day, and the left-hander has now pushed on to a career-defining score.
His form is timely for Pakistan. The national side has just climbed to fourth in the ICC ODI rankings after beating England in the tri-series, and Shan Masood’s calf injury has cast doubt over the coming Tests against Sri Lanka. Big domestic hundreds keep the pressure on the selectors.
All four President’s Trophy matches conclude on Thursday. OGDCL hold a strong position against Ghani Glass, SNGPL are chasing victory against KRL, MIT Solutions need 47 runs to beat PTV, and Kingsmen Academy hold the advantage over SBP.
