NCCIA Arrests Man for Saudi Visa Fraud via TikTok

FAISALABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency said on Thursday it has arrested a suspect in Faisalabad for allegedly defrauding citizens through a TikTok account advertising visas for Saudi Arabia.

A case has been registered against the suspect, who allegedly “used fabricated documents and transferred fraudulent proceeds into bank accounts in collaboration with other” co-suspects, the agency said on X.

NCCIA said it recovered two mobile phones, 10 fake SIMs, an Easypaisa account and an alleged merchant account during the operation.

“Strict legal action will be taken against those using social media platforms to rob citizens on the pretext of overseas jobs and visas,” NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said in a statement issued by the agency’s spokesperson. He urged citizens not to transfer money without verifying visa offers on social media and to immediately report any suspicious account to the NCCIA.

How the fraud worked

The suspect allegedly ran a TikTok account offering Saudi Arabia visas, luring job seekers with fabricated documents. Payments from victims were routed through bank accounts allegedly operated with co-suspects, while the fake SIMs and mobile wallets recovered in the raid point to a network designed to keep the operation off the radar.

The case fits a familiar pattern. For years, unscrupulous agents have exploited Pakistan’s large Gulf-bound workforce with fake job and visa offers, and social media has given the fraud a cheap, scalable new storefront.

Financial fraud tops cybercrime list

According to the agency’s statistics for 2026, financial fraud remains the most widely reported cybercrime, constituting 48 per cent of all received complaints.

The Faisalabad arrest is the latest in an intensifying NCCIA crackdown. On October 10, the agency arrested 281 suspects, including 21 foreign nationals and 20 women, during operations against seven illegal call centres allegedly involved in financial fraud, online harassment and honey-trapping in Lahore. In September, NCCIA, along with the Federal Investigation Agency, arrested six suspects involved in cyber fraud and financial scams, illegal money exchange and human trafficking across Punjab.

Feature Pakistan’s own live reporting has tracked this campaign: on October 17 we reported two men arrested in a Lahore call-centre scam targeting Americans. The agency’s parallel push on digital safety continues elsewhere too: the Islamabad High Court has ordered illegal sheesha cafes to stay closed while the regulator tightens rules, and the IHC has issued notices to NADRA and the social media regulator in a case on under-16 social media access, while biometric verification has been made mandatory for Zu Cards.
