Smart ID Card Pakistan: Features, Fees and How to Get One

2026 Fees

Smart NIC renewal and new issuance: Rs 750 (Normal, ~30 days), Rs 1,500 (Urgent, ~15 days), Rs 2,500 (Executive, ~7 days). Duplicate Smart NIC follows the same scale. Home delivery adds about Rs 165.

How to Get One

Smart vs Standard CNIC

Is the Smart NIC mandatory?

No. It is optional — the standard CNIC remains valid until its expiry date. NADRA encourages the upgrade but does not require it.

Does the chip store my bank details?

No. The chip holds identity and biometric data only — no financial information.

Can the chip be read remotely?

The chip is a contact/contactless smartcard element readable only by authorised verification terminals, not by random phones at a distance.
