The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh heatwave alert for several parts of Sindh. Officials warned that temperatures could rise sharply from tomorrow and continue until May 11.
According to weather experts, upper and central Sindh will face extreme heat during the coming days. The Sindh heatwave alert predicts temperatures between 47°C and 49°C in many districts.
Authorities said cities including Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur may experience severe weather conditions. As a result, health experts have urged citizens to stay indoors during peak daytime hours.
Meanwhile, officials advised people to drink more water and avoid unnecessary travel in direct sunlight. They also asked families to protect children, the elderly, and patients, as they face a higher risk during extreme heat.
The Meteorological Department further encouraged residents to prepare emergency supplies at home. Experts recommended keeping ORS packets, water bottles, thermometers, wet towels, and portable fans ready during the heatwave period.
In addition, people should keep their homes cool by closing curtains during the heatwave alert. They should also open windows at night to improve airflow. If possible, residents should use fans or air coolers to reduce indoor heat.
Doctors stressed that people should wear light, loose clothing during hot weather. They also advised citizens to use umbrellas, caps, and sunscreen while going outside.
The Sindh heatwave alert has raised concerns across the province as temperatures continue to rise ahead of the summer season’s peak. Authorities now expect difficult weather conditions over the next few days and have urged the public to follow all safety instructions carefully.
