Lahore: Speculations are continuing regarding the possible extension of summer vacations in Punjab schools, with many questioning whether educational institutions will remain closed until August 31.
According to details, preparations are underway for students’ return to both public and private schools in Punjab as the summer vacation period is nearing its end.
However, due to ongoing monsoon rains, rumors are circulating about a possible extension of the holidays and whether schools will reopen on September 1, 2026.
Under the current schedule, summer vacations in Punjab are set to end on August 23, 2026. After the break ends, schools are expected to reopen from August 24.
Sources have stated that there is currently no proposal or official report under consideration to extend the holidays beyond August 23 this year.
So far, the Punjab government has not announced any extension of summer vacations. Moreover, no major flood threat has been predicted in the province’s rivers, which suggests that schools are likely to reopen according to the planned schedule from August 24.
However, the final decision regarding any extension of vacations or changes in the school schedule will be made by the Punjab government.
It is worth mentioning that last year, the Punjab government extended summer vacations in public and private schools until August 31, 2025, due to heavy monsoon rains and flood-related conditions in several areas.
