Karachi: Renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani has said that failing to control a fire in a city like Karachi is deeply troubling. He called it a serious question mark on the system.
In a statement, Mufti Taqi Usmani questioned why timely help did not reach the victims of the Gul Plaza fire. He stressed that an impartial and thorough investigation is necessary.
He described the Gul Plaza fire as a painful and shameful tragedy for the nation. He said many lives were lost helplessly within a few hours.
Mufti Taqi Usmani added that countless middle-class traders suffered massive financial losses. He said losses worth billions have pushed many families into poverty.
He emphasized that strengthening fire safety and emergency arrangements is the government’s responsibility. He also praised those individuals who eventually helped save human lives.
Concluding his statement, Mufti Taqi Usmani prayed that Allah grants high ranks to those who lost their lives. He also prayed for compensation and relief for the affected families.
