A Cadet’s Dream Cut Short
Every officer of the Pakistan Army begins his journey as a cadet, and the Pakistan Military Academy at Kakul is where young men are shaped into soldiers. Gentleman Cadet Hurera Wali Khan of the 145th PMA Long Course was walking that very road when fate intervened. On 25 August 2020, while running the famous PMA Mile Track, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and embraced shahadat.
GC Hurera Wali Khan was in the prime of his youth, training shoulder to shoulder with his course mates, carrying the same dream they all carried: to earn the commission, to wear the uniform with pride, and to serve Pakistan. The Mile Track at PMA is a rite of passage for every cadet, a test of stamina, discipline, and will. That morning, it became the place where a young life ended in the service of the nation.
Shahadat in the Line of Duty
A soldier’s shahadat does not always come on a battlefield. Preparing for war is itself an act of service, and those who fall while training to defend the country are remembered with the same honour as those who fall in combat. GC Hurera Wali Khan embraced shahadat in uniform, in the line of duty, doing exactly what a cadet does every single day: pushing his limits for Pakistan.
Remembering the Sacrifice
His shahadat anniversary is observed every year on 25 August, when his name is remembered among the shuhada of the Pakistan Army. His course mates of the 145th Long Course, today officers serving across the country, carry his memory with them wherever they go.
Gentleman Cadet Hurera Wali Khan Shaheed reminds us that sacrifice wears many faces. He never got the chance to lead men in battle, but he gave his life preparing for exactly that. The nation salutes him, and stands behind all the shuhada whose devotion keeps Pakistan safe.
