Huawei has opened pre-orders for the Pura 90 Plus in China and released the smartphone’s first official teaser ahead of its launch next week.

The device joins the Pura 90 lineup, which debuted in April 2026 with the Pura 90, Pura 90 Pro, and Pura 90 Pro Max. Pre-orders opened at 10:08 AM China time through Huawei’s VMall online store, Experience Stores, and authorised retailers. Early buyers will also receive exclusive benefits.

Huawei plans to officially launch the phone next week, with deliveries expected to begin before November 8.

Design and display

The official teaser shows the Pura 90 Plus in Sunset Purple, a gradient finish combining purple and orange. The same colour option is available on the Pura 90 Pro Max. The phone retains the series’ inverted triangular camera module in the upper-right corner of the rear panel.

However, unlike the flat-edged Pura 90, Pura 90 Pro, and Pura 90 Pro Max, the Plus model features a curved frame and rounded rear panel, similar to the Pura 80 Pro.

According to leaks, the device will feature a 6.8-inch display with 1.5K resolution.

Performance and hardware

The Pura 90 Plus, reportedly codenamed Lucia, is expected to feature the Kirin 9020 chipset. The processor reportedly includes eight CPU cores running at frequencies of 2.5GHz, 2.15GHz, and 1.6GHz, alongside a Maleoon 920 GPU.

However, Huawei has not officially confirmed the chipset or other hardware specifications. The Kirin line matters because it is Huawei’s own silicon — the company’s answer to being cut off from Western chipmakers — and each new generation is watched as a measure of China’s domestic chip progress.

Camera setup

According to leaks, the Pura 90 Plus could feature a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch RYYB sensor and a physical variable aperture.

The RYYB sensor uses yellow pixels instead of some green pixels to capture more light, while the variable aperture allows users to control light intake and depth of field — the kind of hardware photographers usually find only on professional cameras.

The rumoured camera setup includes a 48MP macro telephoto, a 40MP ultrawide, a 1.5MP multispectral sensor, and an updated XMAGE image-processing algorithm. Huawei is also reportedly preparing an improved version of its XMAGE technology.

Price and availability

Huawei has not announced the Pura 90 Plus’s official price. The device is expected to sit between the standard Pura 90 and Pura 90 Pro in the lineup. The standard Pura 90 starts at approximately $704, while the Pura 90 Pro starts at around $823.

Huawei will reveal the phone’s complete specifications, pricing, and availability at its launch event next week. For now, its rumoured hardware specifications remain unconfirmed.

Where the Plus fits

Huawei’s naming suggests the Plus slots in as a slightly larger, slightly repositioned sibling rather than a full flagship — the kind of mid-cycle addition that keeps a lineup fresh between major launches. The curved frame and rounded rear panel, echoing the older Pura 80 Pro, signal a deliberate design differentiation from the flat-edged models already on sale.

The expected price band — between roughly $704 and $823 — would put it against a crowded field of Chinese flagships. Whether it reaches markets outside China, including Pakistan where Huawei’s phone business has thinned in recent years, remains to be seen at next week’s event.
