Capt Abdul Samad Ijaz Shaheed: A Young Pilot Who Reached for the Sky

Three weeks have passed since a quiet training flight turned into a tragedy. On 12 October 2026, Capt Abdul Samad Ijaz Shaheed embraced martyrdom near Quetta. He was a student pilot with Pakistan Army Aviation, and he was only at the start of his flying career.

Capt Abdul Samad Ijaz Shaheed: A Young Pilot Who Reached for the Sky

Capt Abdul Samad belonged to the 145 Long Course. In addition, his record lists him as ex Frontier Force and Army Aviation. Therefore, his path had already taken him from infantry roots to the cockpit. He was learning to fly, and every training flight was a step toward a career in the air.

On that Monday, a Mushshak training aircraft took off on a routine training mission. Around midday, the aircraft crashed near Nawan Killi, on the outskirts of Quetta. The military said a technical fault caused the crash. As a result, both pilots on board embraced martyrdom.

His instructor pilot, Maj Husnain Shehzad Humayun, also embraced martyrdom in the same crash. The two officers had flown together that day, and they returned together as shuhada. Army Aviation felt their loss deeply, because instructors and students train side by side.

Funeral Prayers at Chaklala

The next day, mourners offered funeral prayers at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi. Senior officers, fellow soldiers, and grieving families stood together for the two martyrs. After the prayers, both officers returned to their hometowns for burial with full military honours.

The Pakistan Army also ordered a Board of Inquiry into the crash. In this way, the service honoured the fallen while it sought a clear answer for their families. Indeed, the service owes such an inquiry to every pilot and every parent.

An Only Son, a Young Dream

The tribute shared for Capt Abdul Samad notes one painful detail: he was an only son. For his parents, that loss is beyond words. A home that had one son now holds his memories, his photograph, and his flying dreams.

Young officers often carry big dreams in silence. They wake early, they train hard, and they trust their instructors with their lives. Capt Abdul Samad chose that life. He chose the sky, and he gave his life while he was still learning to master it.

Capt Abdul Samad Ijaz Shaheed Will Not Be Forgotten

A student pilot does not seek fame. He seeks skill, discipline, and the trust of his unit. Above all, Capt Abdul Samad earned that trust in a short career. His name now stands with the shuhada of Pakistan Army Aviation.

Will you keep his memory alive? Share his story with a young person who dreams of flying. Finally, remember him not only on 12 October, but in every prayer for those who serve.
