Pakistan Vows Strong Defense on Youm-e-Takbeer

Islamabad: Pakistan marked Youm-e-Takbeer with renewed national pride, as President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the country’s commitment to a strong defense and national sovereignty.

In separate messages issued on the occasion, both leaders congratulated the nation and praised the historic achievements that made Pakistan a nuclear power. They also stressed that Pakistan would never compromise on its security and territorial integrity.

President Asif Ali Zardari said Pakistan remains a peaceful and responsible nuclear state. However, he added that the country will continue to maintain a strong defense against all possible threats.

He further stated that Youm-e-Takbeer reminds the nation of unity, sacrifice, and patriotism. According to the President, Pakistan does not hold aggressive intentions against any country, yet it possesses the capability to defend its sovereignty at all costs.

The President also highlighted the role of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in launching the nuclear program. He said Bhutto decided in response to regional security concerns and external pressure.

Moreover, President Zardari praised Pakistani scientists and engineers for their dedication and extraordinary work. He noted that their efforts helped Pakistan become the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first nuclear state in the Islamic world.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also described Youm-e-Takbeer as one of the most important days in Pakistan’s history. He said the successful nuclear tests strengthened the country’s defense and ensured long-term stability in the region.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the scientists, armed forces, and national leadership who contributed to the achievement. He said their courage and determination changed Pakistan’s future forever.

Furthermore, Shehbaz Sharif stated that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif rejected international pressure and threats during a critical moment in history. He added that the decision protected Pakistan’s sovereignty and strengthened national confidence.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s nuclear capability guarantees peace through balance and deterrence. He explained that a strong defense remains necessary due to regional tensions and security challenges.

Meanwhile, ceremonies and special events took place across the country to celebrate Youm e Takbeer. Government institutions, educational centers, and political leaders paid tribute to the country’s scientific and defense achievements.

Citizens also expressed pride on social media by sharing patriotic messages, national flags, and tributes to the armed forces. Many people described the day as a symbol of national dignity and independence.

Defense analysts believe that Youm-e-Takbeer changed the strategic balance in South Asia. They say the achievement strengthened Pakistan’s international position and increased the nation’s confidence.

Youm-e-Takbeer is observed every year on May 28 to commemorate the successful nuclear tests conducted in Chagai, Balochistan. The day remains a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s determination, scientific progress, and commitment to national security.
