The NADRA Kiosk Machine is changing the way citizens apply for identity card services in Pakistan. Instead of waiting in long lines, people can now complete several CNIC-related services through a modern self-service system. The new facility aims to save time and improve the overall experience for visitors at NADRA offices.
On August 5, 2026, the National Database and Registration Authority expanded this digital service by introducing self-service kiosks at several centers across Pakistan. The initiative allows applicants to renew an expired CNIC or request a replacement for a lost card without going through the traditional token process.
The NADRA Kiosk Machine offers a simple and guided process. Every step appears on the screen, making it easier for first-time users to complete their application without assistance. The system also supports both Urdu and English, so users can choose the language they understand best.
The process begins as soon as the applicant reaches the machine. The first screen asks the user to select either Urdu or English. After choosing the preferred language, the applicant enters the Computerized National Identity Card number to access the service.
Next, the system asks the applicant to verify identity through fingerprint scanning. This step confirms that the person requesting the service is the rightful cardholder. As a result, the verification process strengthens security and reduces the risk of unauthorized applications.
After successful verification, the machine requests a valid mobile phone number. It then checks whether the applicant already has a Pak ID account. If an account exists, the registered email address appears automatically. Otherwise, the applicant enters a valid email address before moving to the next screen.
The user then selects the required service. People whose CNIC has already expired or will expire within the next three to four months can choose the renewal option. Meanwhile, citizens who have lost their identity card can select the replacement option and provide the delivery address for the new card.
The NADRA Kiosk Machine also includes an integrated digital camera. The camera captures the applicant’s photograph instantly. Users can review the picture before accepting it, ensuring that the final image meets NADRA’s quality requirements.
After completing the photograph, the applicant signs electronically using the digital pen attached to the kiosk. The machine records the signature immediately after the user confirms it. This feature removes the need for paper forms while making the process more efficient.
The system then displays all the entered information for final review. Applicants should carefully check every detail before proceeding. Accurate information helps prevent delays and avoids unnecessary corrections during application processing.
Once the information receives confirmation, the machine generates a QR code for payment. Applicants can scan the code with their smartphones and pay the required fee through the available digital payment options. This method eliminates the need to stand in another queue for payment.
The NADRA Kiosk Machine currently supports two of the most commonly requested services. Citizens can renew an expired CNIC or request a duplicate card if the original one has been lost. These services cover a large percentage of daily visitors at NADRA registration centers.
NADRA has installed these self-service kiosks at selected Mega Centers and Registration Centers in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Quetta, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and several other cities. The wider availability allows more citizens to benefit from faster identity card services.
The digital initiative reflects NADRA’s ongoing efforts to modernize public services across Pakistan. Technology now plays a greater role in reducing waiting times while improving convenience for applicants. Digital systems also help staff manage workloads more effectively.
Citizens visiting a center with a NADRA Kiosk Machine should carry their original CNIC, keep their registered mobile number active, and ensure they have access to a valid email address. These simple preparations help complete the application smoothly without interruptions.
The introduction of the NADRA Kiosk Machine marks another important step toward digital public services in Pakistan. People now have a quicker, more convenient, and user-friendly option for renewing or replacing their CNIC. As more centers receive these machines, thousands of citizens can expect shorter waiting times and a faster application experience every day.
