NADRA has announced important details for Pakistani pensioners who want to verify that they remain eligible to receive their pensions. The authority has also confirmed which groups can use the new digital facility during its first phase.
The Proof of Life Certificate aims to make pension verification easier and more convenient. As a result, eligible pensioners can complete the required verification without repeatedly visiting government offices for routine life confirmation.
According to NADRA, the first phase covers pensioners from several federal and provincial institutions. These include organizations that operate under the Controller General of Accounts and provincial Accountants General.
Moreover, pensioners from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir can also use the service. The facility gives these pensioners another option to complete an important requirement related to pension payments.
NADRA has also included military pensioners in the first phase. As a result, pensioners from Pakistan’s three armed forces who fall under the Military Accountant General can access the new facility.
In addition, NADRA and Radio Pakistan pensioners can use the Proof of Life Certificate service. However, pensioners from some other organizations may need to wait until NADRA expands the system to their institutions.
NADRA plans to introduce the service to more pensioners in phases. Therefore, people whose institutions are not yet among the eligible groups should watch for further official announcements.
The new system could especially help elderly pensioners who find repeated office visits difficult. Instead of unnecessary travel and long waiting times, eligible users can complete key verification steps digitally.
Furthermore, NADRA has explained what pensioners should do when an institution asks for life verification again. A pensioner may need to repeat the process after one month, six months, or another period set by the relevant pension authority.
Whenever an organization asks for fresh verification, the pensioner must complete the process again through the Pak ID mobile app. NADRA will then create a new Proof of Life Certificate after the user completes the required verification.
This approach means pensioners should not assume that one verification will remain valid permanently. Instead, they need to complete a fresh verification whenever their pension-paying organization requires another confirmation.
However, the digital process can make repeated verification much easier. Pensioners can use the Pak ID app instead of following a lengthy manual process every time their organization requests fresh confirmation.
The system also reduces another important burden for pensioners. After successful verification, NADRA automatically sends the new Proof of Life Certificate to the relevant organization responsible for the pension.
