The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced new regular vacancies for IT professionals, offering a pay scale that goes up to Rs168,880 per month.
According to Situation Vacant Notice No. 05/2026, the authority is hiring for five Assistant Director-level positions in network engineering, IT operations, technology transformation, cyber security and software development. Each post carries one vacancy under the merit quota.
All five posts fall under the EG-01 pay scale of Rs56,280 to Rs168,880. That range matters for applicants. The top figure is the ceiling of the scale, not the starting salary. Candidates should expect to enter at the lower end of the scale and move up through the scale’s increments.
Available positions
The authority has announced one vacancy each for the following positions:
- Assistant Director / IT Network Engineer
- Assistant Director / IT Operations Engineer
- Assistant Director IT (Technology Transformation)
- Assistant Director IT (Cyber Security)
- Assistant Director IT (Software Development, Full Stack)
All appointments will be made on a regular basis under the Defined Contribution Scheme, subject to approval by the competent authority. Regular appointment is a meaningful distinction in government hiring. It means the posts are not short-term project jobs tied to a single scheme’s funding cycle, which is the pattern for many project-based vacancies announced in Punjab and at the federal level.
Qualification requirements
For most positions, candidates must hold a BS or BE degree in computer science, information technology, electronics, communication, software engineering, cyber security, computer engineering or another relevant field.
Applicants must have at least a second division and a minimum of 16 years of education. For the Technology Transformation position, the authority also accepts a BBA in business analytics or information technology.
The 16-year education requirement means a four-year bachelor’s degree, or a two-year master’s degree after a two-year bachelor’s degree, is the minimum. Candidates with only 14 years of education will not meet the bar, even with experience in the field.
Experience required
Most positions require at least three years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field. Experience gained before completing the qualifying degree does not count towards that requirement, under the usual pattern of federal hiring rules.
The Network Engineer role requires experience in managing corporate IT networks, monitoring systems, resolving network faults and working with Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols. These are the day-to-day skills of running an organisation’s internal network, and the authority’s airports run on systems where a network failure can disrupt operations directly.
The IT Operations position requires experience in operating systems, application software, cloud computing, helpdesk services, vendor contracts and IT procurement. It is a broad role, covering both the technical side of running systems and the commercial side of dealing with vendors.
The Technology Transformation role focuses on emerging technologies, feasibility studies, procurement, request-for-proposal preparation, contract management and project planning. It suits candidates who can write a business case for a new system as well as understand the technology behind it.
The Cyber Security position requires experience in security operations, risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and information security standards. Given the sensitivity of airport systems, this is likely to be the most closely scrutinised appointment of the five.
How to apply
Interested candidates must submit the online application form available through the official Pakistan Airports Authority website at paa.gov.pk. Applications must be submitted within 15 days from the date of publication of the advertisement.
