Punjab has not yet finalized a decision regarding Summer Vacations in schools across the province. However, the government has begun reviewing multiple proposals regarding the holiday schedule. As a result, students, parents, and teachers continue to wait for an official announcement.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared the latest details during a recent statement. He confirmed that authorities are discussing three to four different options regarding Summer Vacations. Moreover, he said the provincial government will announce the final decision within the next few days.
The discussion about Summer Vacations gained attention after reports suggested possible changes in the academic calendar. Therefore, many parents expressed concern about shorter holidays during the intense summer season.
The education minister explained that the government wants to recover academic losses from previous years. Consequently, officials are considering reducing Summer Vacations by 15 to 20 days. The government also aims to increase the number of teaching days from 180 to 190 across educational institutions.
In addition, authorities want schools to complete the syllabus on time. Officials believe extra teaching days can improve academic performance and classroom learning. Therefore, policymakers continue to review different strategies before making a final announcement.
Earlier, Rana Sikandar Hayat had dismissed rumors regarding immediate changes in Summer Vacations. He clarified that the government would take a final decision only after carefully examining all educational and weather-related factors.
Furthermore, the provincial government is also reviewing winter holiday schedules. According to officials, authorities may reduce winter vacations by five to six days as part of broader education reforms.
Meanwhile, students and parents continue to follow updates on Summer Vacations closely. Many families usually plan travel and other activities during school holidays. Therefore, the upcoming decision will directly affect thousands of households across Punjab.
Education experts believe balanced academic planning remains important for both learning and student well-being. However, many parents also emphasize the need to protect children from extreme heat during the summer.
The Punjab government is expected to announce the final summer vacation schedule soon. Until then, schools across the province will continue regular academic activities according to the current timetable.
