Gold Price in Pakistan Rises to Rs435,636 a Tola

Gold prices in Pakistan rose by Rs9,600 per tola on Thursday, taking the local price to Rs435,636 as international bullion rates recorded another sharp increase.

According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association, the price of 24-karat gold rose to Rs435,636 per tola, while the rate for 10 grams increased by Rs8,230 to Rs373,487.

The rise extends a sharp two-day run. Gold has now gained Rs23,500 per tola in two days, after climbing Rs13,900 on Wednesday to reach Rs426,036.

Two days of gains

Wednesday’s jump of Rs13,900 was itself one of the largest single-day gains of recent weeks. Thursday’s increase of Rs9,600 added to it, lifting the local price by more than five per cent in two sessions.

The gains have come quickly after a period of falls. Gold had dropped sharply in late October, when the local price fell by Rs10,800 per tola in a single day on 1 November, and international prices slipped below $4,000 an ounce.

That pullback now looks short-lived. Buyers who waited for lower prices have seen the market turn back up within days, and jewellers say the pace of the move has caught many customers by surprise.

The international push

In the international market, gold prices climbed by $96 to reach $4,131 per ounce on Thursday, supporting the increase in domestic rates.

Local gold prices in Pakistan track the international bullion rate closely, along with the rupee-dollar exchange rate. When the international price rises, the local tola rate usually follows within the same day.

The latest international gain follows a strong run for bullion through the autumn, with investors buying gold as a hedge during a period of war in the Middle East, trade tensions and volatile currency markets.

Gold price still below the record

Even after two days of sharp gains, gold in Pakistan is still below its recent record. On 16 October, the local price crossed Rs440,000 a tola to reach Rs440,636, the highest level covered in Feature Pakistan’s market reporting.

Thursday’s price of Rs435,636 sits about Rs5,000 below that record. That gap matters for buyers. Anyone who bought at the October peak is still waiting for the price to return to that level, while buyers who held off during the late-October dip are now paying more than they would have a week ago.

Silver tells a similar story. The price of silver increased by Rs100 per tola on Thursday to reach Rs5,763. That is still well below the Rs6,256 record set in mid-October, when silver also hit a new high alongside gold.

What to watch next

The next signals for the local market are the international bullion price and the rupee’s movement against the dollar. A further rise in the international rate would likely push the tola price towards the October record. A pause or a fall would leave the current level as a short peak.

Jewellers’ associations update local rates daily, and the price can move several thousand rupees in a single session when international markets are volatile. Buyers planning wedding purchases or investment buying should therefore check the day’s rate before dealing, rather than relying on a price from earlier in the week.

Related market coverage includes the gold price jump of Rs13,900 a tola, oil falls as gold rebounds, the gold price fall of Rs10,800 a tola and the rupee’s movement against the pound and euro.
