Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has appealed to the public to enjoy the responsible Basant celebration and to strictly observe safety measures.
She said the Punjab government has finalized comprehensive rules to ensure the festival is celebrated in a secure and organized manner.
According to Uzma Bukhari, traffic police have fitted one million safety rods on motorcycles free of charge, while an awareness campaign on SOPs and precautionary steps is being actively promoted.
She added that district administrations are enforcing regulations rigorously. QR codes have been introduced on kite strings, kites, and reels, and complete records of kite buyers and sellers will be maintained.
For the three days of Basant, citizens will be offered free transport through electric buses, rickshaws, and taxis. Police and relevant departments remain on duty to ensure compliance.
The minister stated that after 25 years, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has enabled the safe revival of Basant, crediting her leadership for promoting Punjab’s cultural heritage. However, government has strictly order rules for safe and responsible Basant Celebration.
