The Jhelum computer science papers in the Intermediate Second Annual Examinations 2026 will now be held on Monday, November 30, after BISE Rawalpindi moved them from Tuesday, November 10.
The board acted on the recommendation of the Jhelum deputy commissioner. The reason is the expected visit of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan on November 10. The board said the postponement would avoid inconvenience to students and allow both the examination and the visit to run smoothly.
In a letter to the BISE Rawalpindi chairman, the deputy commissioner said extensive administrative, security and protocol arrangements were being made for the chief minister’s visit. The letter said the deployment of administrative and security personnel made it unfeasible to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the examination in the district that day. It asked for the papers to be postponed and rescheduled for another suitable date.
Jhelum computer science papers: what changes for students
The postponement covers the computer science papers for both the morning and evening groups. On November 30, the morning group’s paper will be held in the morning session, while the evening group’s paper will take place in the evening session. Both will be held at the previously assigned examination centres.
Controller of Examinations Mubashir Saeed issued a notification announcing the revised schedule. Board spokesman Arslan Cheema confirmed the change. New roll number slips will be issued for the convenience of students. However, previously issued roll number slips will also remain valid, so students do not need to worry if they have not yet received a new slip.
The change affects Jhelum district only. The computer science papers will be held as originally scheduled at all examination centres in other districts under the Rawalpindi board’s jurisdiction.
One district, one subject
The postponement is narrow in scope, and that matters for students trying to plan. The Intermediate Second Annual Examinations 2026 began across the Rawalpindi division on Tuesday, November 3. The board set up 41 examination centres in six districts for the session, including 17 in Rawalpindi, seven in Attock, five in Jhelum, four in Chakwal, two in Murree and three in Talagang. Only the Jhelum computer science papers move. Every other paper in the session stays on its original date.
The episode shows how a VVIP visit can disrupt an exam timetable. The deputy commissioner’s letter was frank about the cause: security and protocol duties would pull staff away from examination duty. The board chose to move the papers rather than risk a disturbed examination. Students in Jhelum now have 20 extra days to prepare for computer science, but they must also adjust their revision plans for the new date.
The timing is awkward for the board. Schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also closed in three districts this week, a reminder that examination schedules across the country are vulnerable to administrative decisions. The Karachi University law results probe shows what happens when examination administration goes wrong, which is why boards guard their timetables closely.
Dawn reported the postponement. For Jhelum students, the practical points are simple. The computer science paper moves from November 10 to November 30. Morning and evening groups keep their own sessions. Old roll number slips remain valid, and new ones will be issued. Papers in other districts are unaffected, and the wider education picture in the province includes the solar panel rollout in 100 Karachi schools, which shows the same government investing in classrooms while its visits disrupt them.
