ISLAMABAD: The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has warned citizens to renew their expired CNICs before the June deadline. The authority has urged people to act quickly to avoid penalties and disruptions in essential services.
NADRA said it may soon enforce penalties under existing law. Earlier, authorities did not apply these rules to ease public pressure. However, officials now plan to implement strict action after the deadline ends.
Officials reported that around 27.4 million CNICs and other identity documents have already expired. These include overseas cards and child registration certificates. This large number has created urgency across the country.

NADRA also instructed families to update SIM ownership records registered under deceased relatives. Officials identified around 1.5 million such cases and urged immediate correction to avoid service issues.
The authority has also sent SMS reminders to parents whose children have turned 18 but have not applied for CNICs. NADRA has encouraged them to apply through its offices or online portal as soon as possible.
