Pakistan minerals investment forum set for November 12
The Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2026 (PMIF26) will be held on November 12 and 13 at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. It will bring together policymakers, local and international mining executives, investors, financial institutions and technical experts to explore investment in Pakistan’s minerals sector.
The forum is organised by the Government of Pakistan and endorsed by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) is the founding partner.
PMIF26 is Pakistan’s flagship platform for connecting the country’s mineral potential with global investment, expertise and technology. Building on the momentum of PMIF25, this year’s forum will focus on turning dialogue into investment, partnerships and projects across mineral exploration, processing and sustainable mining.
Who will attend
PMIF26’s strategic partners include Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Mari Energies, Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), Reko Diq Mining Company, Pakistan Minerals Private Limited (PMPL) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
Wood Mackenzie is the lead conference producer, while Milbank, White and Case and Lazard are knowledge partners. Academic partners include the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), the University of Peshawar and the engineering universities of Peshawar and Lahore, among others.
“PMIF26 provides an important platform to connect Pakistan’s mineral potential with global investment, expertise and technology. Our country has a vast mineral resource base and a harmonised regulatory framework with investment-friendly policies,” said Ahmed Hayat Lak, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of OGDC and President of PMIF.
He added that OGDC was already a joint venture partner in the Reko Diq project and wanted to expand its footprint in the minerals and mining sector through cooperation with global partners.
“We look forward to welcoming policymakers and industry leaders from across the world to Islamabad to exchange ideas, build partnerships and explore new ventures,” he said.
Key speakers
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are among the key speakers.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik will deliver the welcome address on the opening day. International speakers include John L. Thornton, Chairman of Barrick Mining Corporation; Robert Friedland, Founder and Executive Co-Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines; Patrick Barnes and Wael Jaber of Wood Mackenzie; Isabel Chatterton and Claire Alidenes of the Asian Development Bank; and Mustafa Aksoy, Chief Executive Officer of Calik Group.

The speaker list shows the forum’s range, bringing together government, global mining chiefs and development lenders in one room.
What the forum will discuss
The two-day strategic conference will cover investor-ready mining jurisdictions, critical minerals and Pakistan’s role in the energy transition, financing early-stage exploration, workforce development, women’s participation in mining and the development of next-generation mining projects.
Sessions will also address geological survey collaboration, infrastructure, export corridors, environmental and social considerations, and national capability development. Ahmed Hayat Lak will deliver the closing remarks.
A technical conference will feature more than 50 peer-reviewed technical papers, geological survey data, technology benchmarking and a workshop on Pakistan’s innovation potential in critical minerals mining.
An international exhibition will connect project developers, investors, equipment manufacturers, technology providers and other industry stakeholders. It will include a Mineral Expo of rare mineral specimens, project showcases and procurement briefings.
Exhibitors include the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation, FWO, Mari Energies, Barrick Mining Corporation and Reko Diq Mining Company, among others. The exhibition will also feature a European Pavilion for international partnerships.
Why minerals matter now
The forum comes as critical minerals gain strategic importance for the global energy transition, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies.
Pakistan has set ambitious goals for the sector. Feature Pakistan has previously reported the country’s target of $8 billion in mineral exports, and the Reko Diq copper and gold project in Balochistan remains the best-known test of whether that ambition can be turned into output.
