KP Police Deaths in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Bajaur

KP police deaths in three districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa left three policemen martyred on Friday, while armed men abducted a head constable in Bannu. Police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel later killed two suspected target killers in Lakki Marwat in a retaliatory operation, The Express Tribune reported on Saturday, October 31.

The three killings took place in separate incidents in Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Bajaur. Each attack targeted police personnel on duty or travelling to duty, and each district has now opened its own search operation.

KP police deaths: what happened in each district

In Bajaur, armed men launched a late-night attack on the Salai Pati police post, which falls within the jurisdiction of Barang police station. Constable Khaista Main Syed confronted the attackers and died from his injuries. His funeral prayers were offered at Police Lines, where the district police officer, the deputy commissioner, the superintendent of police (investigation) and other senior officials attended.

In Bannu, gunmen opened fire on CTD Constable Sadiq Zaman at Barmashil Chowk and killed him on the spot. Zaman, a resident of Taji Killi, served as a driver with the CTD in North Waziristan and was visiting his native area on leave when attackers struck.

In a second Bannu incident, armed men abducted Head Constable Ziaullah from the Karam Garhi area near Baran Dam. Ziaullah was posted at Bannu Police Lines and was associated with the Wazir police sub-division. Police have not yet reported his recovery.

In Lakki Marwat, gunmen opened fire on Constable Mumtaz near a bank within the jurisdiction of Shahbazkhel police station and martyred him. Police and the local peace committee launched an immediate response after the attack.

The retaliatory operation in Lakki Marwat killed two suspected target killers who police allege were involved in the murder of a police constable. Police have not yet named the two men, and the allegation against them remains an allegation at this stage.

Why this roundup matters for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

The Bajaur killing was already reported separately. Feature Pakistan covered the attack on the Salai Pati police post when it happened, and this roundup adds two further killings, an abduction and a retaliatory operation to that picture. Readers who follow the province will therefore see the full three-district pattern in one place.

The pattern also sits within a wider run of attacks on police in the province. Security measures have already tightened in Bajaur, where the administration imposed a 10-day pillion-riding ban after earlier violence. At the same time, the province is preparing for local polls under difficult conditions, with the Election Commission ordering KP local polls with 12 districts excluded.

What happens next

Police in all three districts are searching for the attackers, and the abducted head constable remains missing. Investigators will also need to establish whether the three attacks were linked or were separate acts by different groups. No group had claimed responsibility in the Tribune report, and police have not yet announced arrests beyond the two men killed in the Lakki Marwat response.

Further detail is likely to emerge from funeral gatherings, police statements and any recovery operation for the abducted constable. Feature Pakistan will update this story as officials confirm more.
